15 Ways to Save Money While Going Green

Our friend Allie LeFevere is one of our absolutely can’t miss bloggers, and her article last week on “15 Tips to Save Money While Going Green” was inspiring! We all want to help the environment, but often environmentally friendly products and services are more expensive than those we’re used to.

Turn Off Computers: don’t just put them to sleep at night, actually shut them off. You will save an average of 4 cents/day — hey, that’s $14.60 a year!

Don’t Rinse: not your hair silly — your dishes.  Skip rinsing your plates before putting them into the dishwasher. You will save approximately 15 gallons of water per load. Heyo!

Don’t Pre-Heat: turn the oven on after you put the dish in, unless absolutely need — and look to see if it’s finished through that nifty little oven window instead of opening it and losing heat.
