3 Tips to Deal with Your Out of Control Life
I’ll admit, there have been a few situations in my life recently that I have felt were totally out of my control. No amount of magical powers or moving mountains would make a difference. Can you relate? At first, I felt completely frustrated, helpless, and defeated. Even though I’m a huge believer in feeling your emotions, these particular emotions overstayed their welcome to the point that I wasn’t showing up as my best until I reminded myself of the following:
- Practice Gratitude – This may seem cliché because you have probably heard it a lot, but the truth is that it actually works! Instead of focusing on all of the things lacking in your life, focus on what is abundant. The more that you are able to give thanks for what you have in life, the greater likelihood that you won’t remain focused on what you can’t change.
- Your Reaction is Your Choice – Even though you may feel that aspects of your life are out of control, the good news is that you can choose your reaction. You can choose to throw a pity party or instead look for the opportunities for self-growth.
- Find Ways to Laugh – Some people laugh easier than others. If you haven’t laughed in a while, it’s about time. Watch a comedy, hang out with your friend who has an awesome sense of humor, or play with your pet. Laughing will help to release your feelings of frustration and helplessness.
