Become 30% More Productive (Hint: Get Grateful)

Posted February 10, 2013 by Melissa Foster in Features

Wanna be 30% more productive than you already are?

Shawn Anchor, one of the world’s leading experts on the connection between happiness and success, shares that our brain performs up to 30% better when we’re feeling happy.

His research proves that your happiness is 100% your responsibility. While this may not be revolutionary news to you, taking it seriously will produce amped results in all areas of your life.

Side note: Shawn Anchor’s TED Talk is the most entertaining I’ve seen and I highly recommend.

Operate Optimally With Gratitude

Gratitude is an uber-juicy feeling state from which to live. Things flow more effortlessly from this space. Some ideas to get yourself there:

1) Keep a gratitude journal

Dedicate a notebook and enter at least three things every day for which you’re grateful. And here’s the kicker: Next to each thing you record, write  WHY you are grateful for it. This will sink you deeper into the feeling of gratitude.

2) Hourly gratitude touchstone

Every hour (set an alarm on your phone) take a few seconds think about the things you’re grateful for. You can use this as an easy touchstone throughout your day.

3) Make a point to let someone know

Take 5 minutes every day to email one person in your life for whom you’re truly grateful. Good for two reasons: You get in tune with this part of you AND pushing this good energy out is only a good thing. Spread the love!

Pick one pointer from above and run with it. Feel good. Fuel productivity.
