Best Business Books

May 22, 2012 8 Comments »

We all want to enhance our careers, and sometimes we don’t know where to find resources for management, marketing, career transitions, etc. Of course, you can visit sites like Career Girl Network, and spend time searching the internet for exactly what you’re looking for. But if you’re like most people in business, you’ll also go offline and look for books – both online and in bookstores – to help you get ahead. And you’ve probably had the experience of standing idle in Barnes and Noble staring blankly at the business section thinking, “Hmmmmm……..”

Problem solved! I stumbled upon The Suitcase Entrepreneur and her recent blog post “Six Best Business Books to Read in 2012.” I know I’m heading straight to my iBooks to buy these, and you should too.

Let’s add to this list. What are your favorite business books? Why would you recommend them to others?

UPDATE: Giveaway today. Comment on this post with your favorite business book and you’ll be entered to win three of the best business books on the market. You’ll win:

  • By Invitation Only: How We Built Gilt and Changed the Way Millions Shop by Alexis Maybank and Alexandra Wilkis-Wilson
  • How We Lead Matters: Reflections on a Life in Leadership by Marilyn Carlson Nelsol
  • Personal History by Katharine Graham

I recently read The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. I think it will be the future of successful businesses! (at least I hope so)

I really enjoyed the “Art of Happiness at Work” by the Dali Lama. Which actually tied in with your recent posts about work and life balance!

Wow thanks for reposting lovely lady. I’m so glad you enjoyed the recommendations. I’m reading some more on my iPad now and have some being sent to me so looking forward to doing another review. I also loved Delivering Happiness and have heard great things about the Go Giver. I also have Rework sitting in my `must read’ pile….

The Go-Giver is a really easy read (I think it took me an hour or two), but this really sums up the important points.

There are TONS of business books on the market… I offer many of them to corporate professionals across the web universe at writepressnews.com. I would have to say my personal favs are 1) The Power of Focus; 2) From Values to Action, 3) Double Digit Growth (Treacy); 4) Success is not a spectator sport; 5) Execution and any other books written by Ram Charan.
