Celebrating Labor Day

September 5, 2011 No Comments »
From the Department of Labor’s website, Labor Day is:

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
In honor of Labor Day, today we offer a special “Hey There Career Girl” to a woman who has contributed to our strength, prosperity, and well-being.

A Google search of “Chicago Career Girl” and “Martha Beck” together produces three pages of Google hits. That’s how much this blog has talked about Martha Beck. We first became aware of the fabulous Ms. Beck with the dawn of O Magazine. Martha Beck’s column is featured monthly in O, and touches on everything from dating and marriage to organization and work to home life and forgiveness. She is the consummate “life coach” – whole life, not just some life.
To honor Martha Beck on this Labor Day, we’re posting the “best of” her work:

We salute you, Martha. Thanks for bringing us the life coaching we need for so many years!
