CGN’s Insider Report: Fall Beauty Trend Update

Posted September 14, 2013 by Katherine Toll in Building Your Brand
Another Fashion Week wrapped up and the Spring 2014 beauty trends started surfacing as fast as the models hit the runways, BUT we have way too much ahead of us this season to let ourselves get distracted by the likes of pastels and brights. Fall 2013 flew out of the beauty gates with a flourish and it’s still going strong.

Keep an Eye On…

The Designer Trend

  • Marc Jacob’s Beauty launched in Sephora last month, and two other designers follow up with their own beauty lines this month:  Michael Kors and Tory Burch. First, Michael Kors offers us three looks in Sporty, Glam, and Sexy. Each collection houses two nail polishes, one lip stick, one gloss, and a new fragrance. MK told Women’s Wear Daily,

I think those three things — sexy, sporty and glam — have always been the DNA of Michael Kors, and in a strange way, the Michael Kors woman really is all three of those things — it’s just that she feels more strongly about one of them at certain given times.

MK Make-Up Glam

  • We continue the Designer trend with Tory Burch. This fall she dips her toe into beauty with a new fragrance and what WWD describes as a ‘capsule color cosmetics collection’. (A lovely alliteration if I ever saw one!) Included in the ‘CCCC’ is a nude lip color, a rosy toned lip/ cheek tint, a bronzer-blush palette, and a retractable face brush. Tory reminds us that less is more.

According to WWD, the CCCC launches on September 26, 2013 exclusively at Tory Burch Boutiques and Tory, HOWEVER IT’S AVAILABLE ONLINE NOW!  SHHH! OUR SECRET!

 The Retro Trend

  • The cult favorite Viva Glam of MAC fame is back!! And, I mean back as in the original Viva Glam shade launched in 1994! Our CGN friend and fave beauty blogger, Katie McBroom tells us the original lipstick shade PLUS, a new lip glass in the same reddish-brown shade make an appearance this fall. It’s in stores and online now, so don’t miss this opportunity! (As an aside, in 1994 I worked for Lancome Cosmetics as an Account Executive, so I remember buying the shade incognito!)
