It’s easy to set a New Year’s Resolution to do something better that you don’t do well. Not for me. My New Year’s Resolution is to do something better I already do well – and more strategically. My New Year’s Resolution is to reconnect with friends and colleagues I value in my life and to increase connections with friends and colleagues I’d like a larger relationship with.
So this morning, I went through my Facebook, LinkedIn and Outlook Contacts and I made a list – right now it’s about 50 people long. People I want to see more this year or reconnect with for either personal or professional reasons. So I’m vowing that once a week, I will email or call one person from this list and set a time to see them – whether it’s coffee, drinks, dinner, or just a walk around the lake, there is a reason these people are in my life and in my contact list. And I look forward to reconnecting.
Connections – they’re the key.
