Why Brainstorming Groups are So Powerful

It is time to take control of your goals!  You know what you want, and I promise you can achieve anything you set your mind to.  Far too often, we let our excuses get in the way.  Today, I challenge you to tackle your excuses head on, and empower yourself to live the life you want.

What does this look like?  The best way I can explain is by example.

I challenge you to come up with a list of reasons detailing why you can’t reach your goals (AKA, your excuses).  An example of such a list looks like this…

Goal:  Lose weight

Why I can’t lose weight:

  1. I lack self-control.
  2. I don’t have time to exercise.
  3. My entire family is overweight.

If you continue to view your own excuses like the above list, they will forever seem daunting.  However, if you rewrite your list to look like this, you will find that you are actually creating, and therefore completely in control, of your excuses.

Why I can’t lose weight:

  1. I choose to not control myself.
  2. I choose to not make the time for exercise.
  3. I choose to blame my weight on my family.

Once you realize that most, if not all, of your excuses are actually choices well within your control, you are better able to empower yourself to make change.  Coming to this realization can be incredibly emotional.  This is a vulnerable and revealing challenge, so be prepared.  I promise, you can do it!   You are strong, and this exercise will only serve to make you stronger.

Empower yourself!
