Rest: It Does a Body Good
It’s Friday today, and I hope you’re all looking at a very restful weekend. Why? Because whether you like it or not, rest is key to your success!
I shared a quote from my coach a while back. She said to me, “Any idiot can work 25 hours a day!” Which caused me to ask myself the question, how am I really spending my time? And am I giving back enough to myself? Doctors and psychiatrists all over the nation would argue that an epidemic is occurring in this country – a nation full of people who aren’t taking care of themselves, who aren’t getting the rest or the down time they need.
One of my favorite blogs, Becoming Minimalist, recently posted this article, “The Underappreciation of Rest in Today’s Society.” In it are some powerful arguments. From our unquenchable thirst for cash to a world with a 24 hour on button to a common misperception that rest equates laziness, there are countless reasons Americans specifically no longer value rest.
