She’s changed the way women think about clothes – “Do I need Spanx with this?” She’s changed the way many women feel about their bodies. And now, she’s broken the glass ceiling for billionaires, becoming the world’s youngest female self-made billionaire.

If that’s not impressive enough, it how she got there that really makes Sara Blakely’s story unique. Blakely reached her billion dollar status after starting Spanx with only $5,000 in savings, writing her own patent by using a Barnes and Noble “how to” book. Every step of the way, Blakely’s one-woman show moved step by step through building her business, mostly on her own shoulders. She was her own PR person, accountant, and remains the company’s first product tester.
