Tracking Your Time with Real Simple

Time. It’s a constant battle, and here at Career Girl Network we know it all too well. Just two weeks ago, we shared two articles with you on the importance of time and time tracking to make your schedule more efficient. We asked women to critically think, “Are You As Busy As You Think?” and then gave you practical advice from Harvard Business Review with “The Magic of Doing One Thing at a Time.”  And since then, we’ve been following this advice to the letter (with the exception of watching Netflix while writing – I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get rid of that multitasking habit).

Tracking time has its perks – for me, it’s shown me just how much time I’m spending working in the evenings when I truly need to set the computer down and walk away. It’s also shown me where or how I get things done faster. I can begin to pay attention to my writing time when I’m in a coffee shop vs. at home and other locations.

Until now, I’ve been tracking this time with a trusty little notebook and pen. But like everything these days, there’s an app for that! Real Simple has created a phenomenal online tool called “Women and Time” to help track your time and even split it into an easy to read chart.  My favorite feature is the ability to create your “Fantasy Day” – perfect for setting a time saving goal and achieving it.
