Wouldn’t it be nice? Wellness Retreats in Mexico

Posted March 7, 2012 by Marcy Twete in Life After Five
There I am, on the plane from Minneapolis to Chicago, feeling a little bit too full after days of red wine and gourmet meals with my in-laws, and I come across this article, “The Vacation That Will Kick-Start a Healthier, Happier You.” In it, two editors of O Magazine travel to a Mexican wellness retreat to move themselves out of their daily Starbucks habit and into habits of yoga, healthy eating, and sunshine. Their account of their four days in Mexico is enlightening, and at times hilarious. It begs the question, how far would you go to jumpstart your fitness regime?

As someone who has been on every diet known to mankind, and has definitely had my fair share of “jumpstarts”, I understand their desire to do something drastic to get my waistline in order. I even wrote about one of my favorite such jumpstars last year as I cleansed with BluePrint Cleanse twice prior to my wedding last year. And while I loved BluePrint, I would have much rather tagged along with Meredith Bryan and Katie Arnold-Ratliff on their O Magazine jaunt to Mexico.

So tell us, readers, what’s the craziest thing you’ve done to get a jumpstart on your diet? Is a trip to Mexico worth it?
