You Are Here

This morning, I walked up Michigan Avenue as the sun rose in the sky, breathed in the deep breath of the crisp fall air, and I thought to myself, “You are here.” Around me stands Trump Tower, Crain, Wrigley, Hancock….and despite their beauty and stature, it’s so easy to forget to see them. It’s so easy to become bogged down in the day-to-day living and forget to look up and think, “You are here.”

This isn’t just true in our cities and towns. It’s true in our lives are even more so in our careers. How many years do we spend climbing the ladder, never taking the time to look at the view from where we are? How many days to we spend with our heads down at our desk forgetting to celebrate the successes of the day before? There is always something to celebrate, always something to be grateful for. Let this season changing renew you like it has me. Take a moment today to look up, look around, take a deep breath and allow yourself to say, “You are here.”
